Tapping the Collective Online Intelligence of Student Groups

Classroom Salon is a digital environment that transforms individual work like annotations and comments into dynamic communities. It helps teachers, authors and group leaders to gauge perspectives and camps of opinion through aggregation and rich visualizations.

According to Professor Ananda Gunawardena, one of the developers of Classroom Salon, the tool aims to capture the sense of connectedness that makes social media sites so appealing, but within a framework that that allows student groups to explore texts deeply. So it’s not just social networking for the sake of socializing but enhancing the student experience as readers and writers.”

Educational institutions are encouraged to sign up for a free account as access is currently available by email invitation only.
